Trata-se de um estudo sumário, com o intuito de facilitar ao leitor uma noção das festividades no concelho e na cidade. O estudo aborda aspetos relacionados com a solenidade, como: o enquadramento histórico-cultural, desde os primeiros festejos no séc. XVII até ao surgimento da festa em 1976. As várias etapas do festejo são aqui igualmente relatadas.

This is a summary study with the purpose of facilitating to the reader a notion of the festivities in the county and Ponta Delgada town. The study deals with aspects related to the Solemnity, such as: the historical-cultural context, since the first festivities in the 19th century, until the appearance of the feast in 1976. The various stages of the celebration are also reported here.
