The Azores A Garden on the Atlantic

A mythical archipelago, like a lost garden in the middle of the Atlantic… It is almost no longer Europe, not yet America: the Azores continue to dazzle travellers today, just as they did during the Age of Discovery in the 15th century. For explorers, it is Atlantis; for sailors, a legendary stopover; for nature lovers, an exceptional reserve of biodiversity. Nine islands, nine worlds preserved but open to the future, where the beauty of nature, colours and materials bear witness to a world where man and the ocean live in harmony. Yet the Azores remain a well-kept secret, at the western edge of Europe and still untouched by mass tourism. Micheline Pelletier, who knows the islands and their inhabitants well, reveals the authentic landscapes of this Portuguese archipelago and invites us to meet those who have chosen to bring this Eden to life.
Micheline Pelletier is a photojournalist. She has covered current events and produced numerous reports for international news agencies. After exploring the mysterious Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific, her gaze fell on the middle of the Atlantic.
