Code Blue – New & Selected Poems

Code Blue gathers poems that refuse the mercy of forgetting. Here, memory enters like cold air — sudden, bracing, necessary — carrying salt, labor, prayer, hospital light, and the unsoftened weight of inheritance. Sam Pereira writes with a language both scarred and steadfast, binding image to body and history to breath, trusting the seen world—bread, rosaries, corridors, winter fields — to testify where abstractions fail. Heritage presses rather than consoles; faith is argued with; love and grief stand without spectacle. These poems move like weather across a moral landscape, refusing erasure, refusing distance, leaving in their wake not resolution but responsibility — the quiet warmth of words that remain answerable to the dark water closing behind us.
