Soul of Black Stone: Echoes of Islands, Shadows of Time

The ocean does not forget — and neither does the soul. In Soul of Black Stone: Echoes of Islands, Shadows of Time, Lara Gularte gathers the murmurs of ancestral tides and carries them across generations of distance. From volcanic cliffs and whaling songs to the luminous rituals of the Espírito Santo, her poetry transforms saudade into continuity, memory into resistance, and inheritance into living song. Writing from California yet breathing with the pulse of the Azores, Gularte reminds us that homeland is not lost to migration — it is reborn in language. These poems rise like islands from the sea of time, proving that heritage endures, reshaped by imagination, sustained by remembrance, and carried in the ocean of the blood.
